Astronomy is a great hobby. Either just to read about it or actually being out observing.
Observing
I own a 50x10 Minolta binocular. 50mm aperture and 10 times magnification. I is
a great tool for quick viewing of the stars, planets and the moon. I own a telescope
with 80 mm aperture from William optics. I have not used it half as much as I would
like to. I own two eyepieces and one Barlow, giving me magnifications of 25, 50,
70, 140.
Slooh telescope
Slooh is an online telescope which is physically based on Teneriffe in the Canary
Islands. Online means that you can control it over the net and watch the sky from
the scope over the net. You can also save pictures from it. They have several group
missions where everyone watches the same objects even though you can individually
zoom different parts of the object. If you are a participant you also get own telescope
time where you actually control the telescope.
